The substantive negotiations for the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area Version 3.0 have been completed, with the agreement set to be signed in 2025. This upgraded version spans nine key areas and will, for the first time, feature dedicated exhibition zones for Artificial Intelligence (AI), new productive forces, and a pioneering “Dual Carbon” energy pavilion. These innovations offer an unprecedented stage for health technology enterprises, aligning with emerging sectors that hold immense potential for cooperation - such as the digital economy, green economy, and supply chain connectivity.
Over the past 21 editions, the China-ASEAN Expo has attracted more than 1.7 million exhibitors and participants, with each session covering over 200,000 square meters of exhibition space. The Expo has become a vital bridge for deepening economic and trade cooperation between China and ASEAN countries, fostering shared development opportunities across the region.
The 22nd China-ASEAN Expo will adopt an innovative “Online + Onsite” hybrid model, with the physical exhibition spanning approximately 200,000 square meters. The event brings together the collective support of the governments of China and the 10 ASEAN countries, with active participation from other RCEP member states, Belt and Road Initiative countries, and international organizations. It serves as a golden gateway for enterprises from around the world to explore and expand into the ASEAN market.
The Free Trade Area upgrade will open broader opportunities for health technology cooperation between China and ASEAN countries. With a population of 670 million, the ASEAN region is experiencing an aging population growth rate of over 10%, alongside an annual increase in healthcare expenditure exceeding 8%. This rapid development is propelling ASEAN to become one of the world’s most promising emerging markets in the medical and healthcare industry.
For 21 consecutive years, the Shanghai delegation has organized outstanding enterprises to participate in the Expo.
